ANYONE SEEN MY MOTIVATION?

I've been having a difficult time concentrating. Maybe it's because the snow piled up about nine inches high over the past three days and all I wanted to do was sleep. Is that normal? I know a lot of people have been snowed in worse than we were here in Ohio, but I thought that would give me lots of time to get things done. Not! At least not writing. Maybe it's because I was snowed in with my hubby, youngest daughter (17), my Mom and six assorted critters. The more I think about it the more I wonder how I got anything done at all. Oh, and the Olympics were on. Duh!

I'm starting to feel that tingle in my fingertips. My computer screen is calling to me and more plot ideas are forming in my foggy, snowed in brain. I have got to go exercise. What was I thinking?

Ahhhhhhhhhh. That's better. Now I can get down to business. What do you do when the words won't come or you can't get started?

Wait. Wait just a minute. I'm back!

  3. Hi Annette,
Sorry you have a cold. Get some rest. I love staying under the covers in this weather. Feel better. Glad you liked that kitty. I made her part of motivation. :)

    Hi Keli!
How are you? Loved the interview that Anne did. I have to get a synopsis written in order for me to work well on this new book. Just feeling my way. :)

  4. Jill, I hope your synopsis comes together. I understand the desire to have the outline in place before diving into the story. I'm revising my WIP based upon my agent's excellent input, and my first step is to plot the story chapter by chapter. I'm a reformed pantser, having seen how that method ended up making more work for me.

  6. Hi Keli,
I'm trying to find that place between pantser and plotter. It's going to take me awhile, that's why I'm starting with the synopsis. I've got a few chapters written, but I can tell I'm at one of those spots where I could go off track, which as you said in your own experience can cause a lot of extra work.

  7. I'm dealing with computer frustrations today. My tech guy carted it off to his workshop for major surgery. Sigh. I'm working at the library.

Hope you're able to get back to your book soon. :)

    Blessings,
    Susan

  8. Hi Susan!
Well that's no fun! I hope they can fix your computer soon. What would we all do without them? My work life is interfering with my writing life, but I'm feeling more confident that all will be well.

  9. Napping and walking are good for letting the words in. Or, reading other peopele's words and playing the piano.

  11. Hi Mary,
With all the snow we've been having I think I could sleep all day long. :) Walking is great and I love using the elliptical at work. Wish I could play the piano, but listening to music is also motivating. Thanks Mary!

    Hi Christi,
I love that little critter too. Makes me smile. Have a great day!

  12. Jill, I'm just so stubborn, I beat the keyboard until something comes out. Amazingly there's a few good words, sometimes more.

    Blessings and remember to persevere!!!!

  13. Hey Jill
It is so nice to meet you. I too am a writer (working on my first novel) and I have just started blogging myself and am learning the ins and outs of the blog world. I am a ACFW member as well and was wondering how you got the emblem on your blog...I would like to add it to mine. I plan to follow you and I hope you and I can be an encouragement to each other. I am a christian homeschooling mom that LOVES to read and write. I love your post..they are really uplifting and fun. Take care and may God bless you and your writing.
    Hugs, Pamela

  14. Hi Patti Girl!
I think I'll try your beating of the keyboard today and see what happens. :)

    Hey Pamela!
So nice of you to drop by and comment. Thanks for following my blog. I think I got the emblem from the ACFW website. It's been so long I can't remember.:) I don't know if this will work, but click on my ACFW emblem and see if it takes you to the website.

If you have trouble you might want to ask the gang on the ACFW loop. Hope to see you often.
